Classification of Fiber Optical Switches

A fiber optical switch is a device that can switch optical fiber lines. According to the number of incoming and outgoing lines, it can be divided into 1×2, 2x4 and other switches. The position of the movable optical fiber is changed by electromagnetic induction during switching. The switching time can be as small as milliseconds. It is widely used in optical fiber communication systems to provide backup line switching.

And here is the classification of fiber optical switch.

1. Direct type fiber optical switch

When the hand presses the switch button, the light path is blocked and the light is blocked. When the hand leaves the button, the light path is turned on again. In this way, the output terminal can detect the change of the signal and send out the control signal. Of course, the manufacturing precision of this switch is very high, and a light guide device is required in the switch, otherwise the light cannot be coupled down.

2. Indirect fiber optical switch

The optical fiber of this kind of switch is continuous, but the total reflection condition of the light is changed during the propagation, so that the output energy of the optical fiber output end is changed. The photoelectric receiving device at the output end only needs to measure the change of the received energy and compare and judge it. Finally, a control signal is sent.
